WEDNESDAY : SANARY - LE MONT FARON

During the morning :

First stop at the tiny picturesque village of La Cadière d'Azur. This perched village has kept a lot of its medieval patrimony.

Then we will head towards Sanary. This lovely little town bordering the Mediterranean sea is not only a seaside resort but mostly a real provençal village, with pink and white houses, with a charming fishing harbour bordered by palm trees, with a square covered with sand where the elderly people play "pétanque".
On the sea shore take place a very lively market, where the inhabitants of the surroundings meet every wednesday. Provençal markets are particularly colourful for the food they sell as well as for the great personality of the dealers.

Free lunch

On the afternoon we will go for an outstanding sightseeing tour of the Mont Faron. From this 1916 feet massif, bordered by deep valleys, the view on Toulon and its bay is fantastic. Because Toulon is the second largest naval port in France and base of the "Force d'Action Navale", it is common to see the two aircraft carriers, the largest vessels of the French navy (when they are not on duty patrolling the Mediterranean). Some minesweepers, anti-submarine or missile launcher fregates are also part of the fleet.

On the way back, we can stop in an estate producing olive oil and Bandol wine (famous AOC wine).

Between the sites, your driver-guide will explain you many things about the history, the tradition, the natural environment...
You will be able to stop as much as you want to take pictures, or just to breath the fabulous scents of the provençal plants...
